Costume:
The scientist's costume consists of a green-brown casual jacket, dark coloured trousers and a dark coloured top. The colour his costume would have been intentional because the colours used represent earth and nature. This therefore gives us a better understanding of his character and what he does.
The costume of the observers is made up of normal items of clothing. They are wearing casual tops, jumper and jeans in a variety of colours such as blue and red. The low key lighting makes it hard to see their costume but forces the audience to focus on the telescopes and the sky. The fact that they are wearing normal clothes suggests to the audience that they are just normal people, therefore making them more relatable.

Scientist's casual costume and use of low key lighting
Lighting:
The lighting used throughout is low key lighting. This would have been done to show that it is night time. As they are looking at stars, the use of low key lighting is effective because it allows the audience to see what they are seeing. It could also suggest that something is going to go wrong as darkness is usually associated with danger, therefore giving the audience a hint at what is going to happen later in the film. it also means we are not exposed to the whole setting, therefore adding a sense of mystery.
